Your profile, @username and notifications

Your public profile page, your @username, and how notifications work.

What is the profile page with the @ name on it?

It is your public profile, at /me/ followed by your username. It shows your display name, photo, a short bio and any roles you hold. It is set up when you sign up with your username, and it updates when you edit My Profile.

How do I add my photo and a short bio?

Open My Profile ("Update your photo and personal info"). You can change your photo, full name, display name, bio, location and website. Your display name, photo and bio show on your public profile after you save. Photos up to 25 MB work; if an image is rejected, try a JPEG or PNG.

What characters are allowed in my username?

3 to 32 characters: lowercase letters, numbers and single hyphens, starting and ending with a letter or number. It can't be only numbers, can't be a reserved word, and must not be taken by someone else. The field checks this as you type and tells you the reason if it's refused.

Can I change my username later?

Yes, from My Profile or Account. Your profile address changes with it, because it is built from your username, so old links to your profile will stop working.

Do people need an account to see my profile?

No. Your profile page is public and can be opened without signing in. It shows only your display name, photo, bio and roles; your email address is not on it. There is no privacy switch for the profile page.

Nobody currently holds that username: it may be mistyped, the person may have changed their username, or the profile was removed. The page still loads and shows "Profile not found"; nothing is broken.

What are the roles shown on a profile?

They are labels granted to you by spaces on xquare, for example a role you hold in a business or community. You can't add or edit them yourself. If a role you expect is missing, ask the space that should have granted it, or email [email protected].

Can I have more than one identity?

Your account has one public profile. If you help run a business on xquare you may see "Switch identity" on Account; that changes which business you are acting for, not your public profile. If you need a separate public identity, email [email protected].

How do notifications work?

The Notifications page lists your alerts, including replies from support, and you can tap "Mark all read". Messages are in your Inbox. To get alerts on your phone or browser, open Account and, under Communication, enable Push notifications for that device.
